BioParkPass Helps The Village of Wellington Leisure Services Division control attendance at their facilities. March 30th, 2006 - Miami, Florida, USA
The Leisure Services Division of the Village of Wellington was faced with a problem. With increasing attendance at their programs, including open gym sessions, summer camps, swimming pool admittance, etc., they were faced with needing better access control to their facilities and better record keeping of their program attendance. So they turned to the Information Technology Department (IT) for help. After evaluating several ideas and systems, the IT Department found an as yet, little known product called the BioParkPass.
This system, which is revolutionizing the way the Leisure Services Division secures, manages, monitors and reports on facilities access and activities, gives participants an access code, takes a scanned picture of their palm and prints them an access bracelet which is to worn at all times while participating in an activity. Participants register for “passes” and the system allows or denies entry based on their pass status. “This system uses technology to improve the efficiency of checking participants in, managing and monitoring who is in the facility, provides an added layer of protection for the young participants in our programs and allows managers to better plan programs and staffing schedules based on push of the button reports,” says Levi Stringer, the Information Technology staff member responsible for finding and implementing the system.
The BioParkPass system is currently being used at the Village Park Gym to manage and monitor access to open gym times. Alan D. Mendelson, Vice President of Plasco ID, designers of the system, states “We are proud to have the Village of Wellington as the first municipality to implement our innovative BioParkPass System. BioParkPass allows the Village to completely control access to their facilities and provide a safe environment for their citizens,” Well over a hundred people have registered with the BioParkPass system and the reviews have been great. It takes a registered user an average of 8 seconds to check in and have their bracelet printed and they are off and playing basketball. Gym monitors can then walk through the gym and ensure that every participant is wearing the appropriate bracelet. The system will soon be expanded to include swimming pool access, summer camp access and many more program uses.
Come and check out how the Village of Wellington is using technology to better serve its residents by visiting the Village Park gym and trying out the new BioParkPass system. For more information on how the system works, feel free to call the Information Technology department at 561-753-2585.
